What was covered in this live
In this webinar, Cédric Tumminello (Hello Mira) talks with Anaïs Morisset, a veterinarian of eight years and a travel planner who specialises in travelling with pets (Cap Nomade). She spent two months in a van across Europe with her dog and moved to the French Caribbean with her dog and cat. Her message: travelling with your pet is not a matter of luck, but of organisation.
The first question is whether your pet is suited to travel. Anaïs covers temperament (curiosity, stress, sociability, recall), motion sickness, age (the ideal window is between 1 and 7 years), chronic illness, and brachycephalic breeds, which are very sensitive to heat and often refused in the hold. She also explains what can improve over time, with a trainer or gentle aids such as pheromones.
On regulations: microchip, pet passport and a rabies vaccine at least three weeks before departure, an antibody test that can take several months for some countries, quarantines (United States, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, New Caledonia), airline rules (8 kg including the carrier for the cabin), a health certificate a few days before a flight, areas closed to dogs, and regulated breeds.
For the unexpected: a first-aid kit approved by your vet, pet insurance (vet bills are much higher abroad), poison control numbers, and the right reflexes with stray dogs. Anaïs sums up her method in four steps: assess your pet and your destination, prepare documents and health early enough, plan the itinerary and accommodation, then get the gear ready. The live ends with a demo of the Mira Chat assistant, still in testing, and an overview of the support Anaïs offers.
